KML/KMZ server
Data is published as KMZ or KML
KML (Keyhole Markup Language) is a form of the XML metalanguage designed for geographical data distribution.
The KML is presently used most by the company Google for its map application, Google Earth (virtual globe), Google Maps (web map server) and Google Mobile (map access through mobile equipment). The KML format has become very popular in recent years.
The primary format is a KML file (XML file). The compressed version of the KML file is called KMZ and it is in fact a classic ZIP archive, which may be supplemented by other files outside the root KML file.
The Google Earth application can be downloaded for free from the Google website.
